Alias: Mr. Somnium
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 1
Weight: 30lbs
Race: Human
Weapons:
Xavier normal - Umbrella sword
Rex - Xavier's undead war hound
Xavier Reaper - Cruel scythe with dark energy enchantments. Dark energy causes wounds, even minor ones, to scar permanently and causes energy drain to magic users. Has ability to "fling" crescent-moon shaped dark energy.
Listed below are Xavier's and Rex's set of skills and passive abilities. They are his ONLY abilities. These are established to make fair fights during RP combat, and to not have Xavier come up with bullshit skills on the fly. Also, Xavier is not a Pokémon. He does not level up and learn new abilities. Though he has the capability to, there must be some reason to or why he can.
----
Xavier (Normal Form)
Class: Necromancer
----
Dark matter - Xavier has the ability to use dark matter at his will, summoning it from a different place of existence. Dark matter is the key ingredient in dark energy in allowing dark energy to cause physical damage.
No pain - Xavier, being a skeleton, feels no pain.
Bone matter regeneration - When not in combat Xavier's bones will begin to regenerate, converting dark matter into bone matter.
Summon undead moderate - Xavier has the capability of animating corpses to do his bidding. It's not something he's too fond of doing though.
Summon the Fallen - A squad of 7 ghost soldiers comes to Xavier's immediate aid. These soldiers were die hard loyalists and not even death prevents them from serving their commander. The ghosts are incredibly powerful but can be dispatched fairly easily by magic. He may use them to scare people instead of fighting. Also, they do have their own personalities and quirks but I'm to lazy to type them out.
Dark blast - An arrow of dark energy fires out of Xavier's bony palm. Has the capability of impaling most physical objects.
Shadow shroud - Xavier covers 30m of radius of an area in shadows. Anyone who has the capability of seeing in the dark can see through it. Often used to escape a sticky situation.
Shadow shield - Shield of dark matter capable of absorbing a high amount of damage
Turn undead - Destroys lower undead creatures in a wave of dark energy.
Shadow teleport - Through the controlled use of the Veil, Xavier can travel from one place to another at ease. For humans who enter, it feels like air being choked out of them.
++++
Rex
++++
Aldanian war hound - Although he is undead, Rex still maintains the traits of an Aldanian war hound. He has superb smell and strength and can take down some of the most massive of enemies.
Iron will - Rex cannot feel pain and is usually to stubborn to retreat from combat. He will stand by Xavier and his allies no matter what.
House trained - Xavier has cast a spell onto Rex that gets rid of the rotting stench. It also gets rid of the fleas.
Venomous fangs - Rex's bites burn a lot.
====
Xavier (Reaper)
====
Animate undead - Reaper has the capability of controlling undead, as well as summoning souls from the Veil. For dramatic effect, he can even use the souls to animate suits of armor or create golems out of stone.
Devil sight - From his eyes fires purple dark energy
Shadow claw - Reaper strikes the ground, cause spikes of dark energy to erupt out of the ground and having the potential to impale anything they come into contact with.
Puppeteer - Reaper has the capability of controlling the minds of the lesser willed.
Appearance:
Even though he is just bones Xavier still feels naked without clothes. His usual choice of attire is a simple suit and top hat, no monocle. On his left arm is a bracelet that binds tightly. This bracelet was founded by the Asevurian researcher Thades Caan. He has the ability to move the matter within his facial structure, to show expressions such as joy or displeasure. Rex looks like a husky with the exception of looking like a sewn up doll. Where flesh was exposed (from wounds he suffered on the battlefield at the Capital) leather was used to cover up. His fur is jet black with a belly of silver fur. His left eye is blue, his right purple.
Personality:
Xavier, although being a necromancer, has no hint of evil inside his soul whatsoever. He values life as a sacred gift. He loves to learn and read and furthermore enjoys teaching. Though he is not an official magister at the Gryphon Academy, he sometimes does take a part time job as a substitute teacher and even sets aside time to help tutor students. In the mornings he acts as an escort from the students' dormitories to their classes. Xavier also still trains in Belor swordsmanship, a special type of swordsmanship that focuses more on the use of momentum as an advantage. He is also a brilliant tactician, usually being an excellent asset in hatching up plans and the execution of missions. Xavier, if possible, would avoid fighting and try to find diplomatic resolutions to conflict. When he fails to find a peaceful resolution, he will defend himself. However, he will put himself forward to protect an ally. Especially children. Xavier believes in the idea of children being the future, and he will be the one that takes the brunt of damage in order to protect a young person.
Rex will often accompany Xavier. He is a loyal war hound that enjoys the hunt and the excitement of battle. In combat he is relentless, striking at his opponent until they are over powered or dead. Though Rex is not hostile towards strangers, he is not exactly friendly either. He enjoys his solitude and is usually quiet. Xavier believes that Rex can indeed sense evil. Like his master, Rex will put himself in front in order to protect Xavier. But he is loyal enough to understand orders, such as Xavier commanding Rex to protect someone else.
Strengths:
Xavier is an intellectual as well as a warrior. He can hold his own ground and find a way to maneuver out of a sticky situation. Because he feels no pain he feels no fear. He only worries for the lives of his allies. Rex relies more on physical prowess and strength more than anything else. He is large and makes sure he lets others know he is not to be messed with. Reaper Xavier cannot be harmed easily. It can take a massive amount of damage. Though he can be repelled over and over, destroying him utterly is an almost impossible task. Xavier, in desperation, may turn into Reaper form. He strives to one day to control it.
Weakness:
Though his bones are fortified enough to take a high amount of damage he is still in the end, a skeleton. His skull has the capability of being popped right off, as well as his other limbs. Although it won't kill him, it does indeed make things difficult. His kindness also causes him to stubbornly sacrifice his own well being to save others, often time causing him to drain high amounts of energy. Rex can take a good amount of damage, but there is a certain threshold that tells Rex that he can't take anymore. There may be moments when Xavier witnesses something (Such as the severe injury or death of an ally or child) or comes under too much stress (Combat wise) that he will unintentionally unlock his reaper form. Once this happens the bracelet drops from Xavier's arm. The only way to bind Xavier once again is if a person with the bracelet comes into 5 meters and turns a gear on it. They must then be able to withstand shock damage and must hold onto the bracelet for as long as Xavier's dark energy is absorbed. After the ritual is done, Xavier comes back but becomes inanimate for 2 weeks. Xavier's reaper form is very vulnerable to sunlight or light magic.
(Note: Don't expect much excitement from the history. I wanted to get through it quickly so everything is written just to get to the point.)
History (Pre-Aldanian Civil War/Aldanian Civil War):
Xavier was born in the noble district Belor of the continent Aldania. His father was a merchant and his mother was an herbalist as well as a professor of science at St. Markus University. He lived comfortably and was home educated, and was taught by a number of famous nation-wide teachers. He was respectful and well-mannered. All the teachers, servants, and neighbors cherished him. He made friends easily with the local children but he was more often deep into his studies. His parents loved him greatly and when they had the time they would go to the beach or go for walks. One day his parents brought him a dog (It would later be discovered that the dog was a mix breed of a casual household dog and an Aldanian war hound) and he named it Rex. With the recent rumors of a possible uprising in the district to the east that an uprising was beginning, Xavier's father wanted to make sure his son safe whenever his son accompanied him along his travel routes. A dog would make a good companion as well as a guard.
There was an instant connection between Xavier and the dog. Xavier knew that there was something more to Rex, since Rex fancied hunting anytime they went out. "It's in his blood pa." Xavier would say. "Can't you feel it? The way he bears his fangs and the look in his eyes?". So as a friend would do a favor for another friend Xavier was taught by the household quartermaster on how to hunt. Every weekend when Xavier didn't need to study he and Rex would go on a hunt into to the woods. As they started they were able only to catch pheasants and squirrels, but with help and advice from the quartermaster they eventually were able to take down deer and even hogs
As Xavier continued to grow it was no doubt he would become very physically fit and very attractive, and he was becoming very charming. He was playful with girls although he never was into a serious relationships. Instead Xavier's compassion was learning. And he had the physical and mental aptitude to learn anything he wanted, whether it be sword fighting or Arcanic Physics. If he walked through the market place and heard a lyre, he had a deep urge to learn how to play it. When he sees the baker make the sweetest of confections he desires to learn how to make it. When he turned 14 he learned to handle a sword at a local garrison during the afterhours. He was nimble and he caught on how to efficiently parry rather quickly. Many instructors, both military, political, and educational, in the district kept a close eye on him. He would turn of age soon and his employment would be most beneficial.
He had his first taste of blood one summer when he accompanied his father on a supply caravan trip to a far district. Their caravan had been ambushed by bandits, but with the help of guards and his dog Rex Xavier overcame them all. They discovered later that these bandits were one of many recently formed groups that were part of a Resistance force. This Resistance force was at first treated as if they were amateur terrorists, not so uncommon in this kingdom's era. Xavier would find that his blade would cut more of these people down; farmers, mercenaries, bandits, rogues, low-class merchants. And for a time his blade would cut through cleanly. Unfortunately for Xavier, as this being his first actual combat, had trouble holding back the stronger of bandits. He had unfortunately faced the leader who had wielded a massive hammer The hammer had collided into Xavier's side, but he had parried quickly enough to avoid a fatal blow. Still, he had been thrown across the ground and off a cliff where he stumbled into certain doom.
Xavier woke up with vision shrouded by darkness. Pain had escaped him and he could walk as if he had suffered no injuries. He slowly began to bring this reality into focus and made a pretty good guess of where he was. This was the Veil, the world between worlds. It was a dimension not for man. He was worried if this is what the afterlife was. It was much less than he expected. Then, in the distance, he could see a faint light glimmering around a figure. It seemed blurred at its distance, but then it came closer in incredible speed. At first Xavier made it out to be some person in a cloak, but as it got closer he saw that the thing had a face, resembling a squid with four eyes, and a body of carapace that was covered in scars, warts, and boils. It had a single arm that was half the length of its entire body and it was extending out. A massive claw pointed a finger right at Xavier and as it closed in it would seem that it hungrily wanted to drive it into Xavier's heart. Xavier could do nothing but stare as he was frozen, not in fear but by some unknown force. He could hear a low humming that got louder and louder as it got closer. The creature when it was in striking distance let out a horrible shriek and lunged at Xavier. One of the fingers (Or what seemed like fingers) dug into Xavier's chest. He wanted to scream in pain but he was also devoid of noise. He could feel it digging through his chest, like a flesh eating worm. He could feel his heart beating faster and faster as if it too knew it was being sought after. Then there was a glare of light.
Xavier felt pain rush back into him. He was on a bed in the comfort of his own room now. Rex was by him and had woke up the same time he did. He stood by his masters side and lowered its head, as if in disgrace as it couldn't prevent his maters injury. Xavier let out of a cry of pain and clutched his chest, and he could feel warm wetness that caused his shirt to cling to his chest. His father and mother rushed in and embraced their son who they feared was lost.
When he fully recovered he was given the current state of affairs. How his father success , but when Xavier turned 17, Captain of an entire battalion of Imperial soldiers and the forward force in rushing Resistance armies, there would be a type of dullness in his blows. His sword, a master-crafted blade given to him by his father for his promotion to captain, had trouble cutting through flesh and bone. It was because Xavier hesitated. After so much bloodshed and chaos, he found this not to be a war but a slaughter on both sides. Both factions, Imperial and Resistance, lost their sense of morals and honor.
Bastard sons would be born from women raped by Imperial knights. Resistance forces would depend on child labor for the manufacturing of new weapons and armor. It was the same nightmare over and over again, from ruined village to bloodied battlefields. Xavier once had the childish delusion of there being a classical taste to warfare where knights in silver glimmering armor charged forth into victory, slaying the enemy army in one blow. He fought against Imperial knights, of whom he very much looked up to at first, but they were nothing of what you saw in the drawings in books. Their eyes were different. They gave no mercy to their enemies. Even Xavier had the decency to end the lives of his enemy quickly, but the knights like a predator savored the kill.
Five months later Resistance forces were collapsing. With no sense of direction or leadership, the enemy was being subjugated quickly. However a new hero stepped into the picture. Albrecht Orr, a man whose name was known all around the land. Veteran of numerous campaigns and a professional swordsman, Orr in his later years turned to the humble farmer life and started a family. But now with the Empire nearing victory he couldn't stand and do nothing. Although Resistance forces had resorted to unfavorable strategies, he still knew that all that was wanted was the freedom and liberation of the middle and lower class people who had been oppressed for the longest time. Orr, when he had commanded Imperial forces, related to the common farmer and craftsmen and tried to plead to King Greigore for tax relief and better security on the common man. Of course, his wishes were ignored. Orr brought up his sword once again and was join by a young man whose name was Roland. Roland had studied in a number of prestigious military academies and exceeded in war strategy and tactics. With his name known, it did not take long for Resistance forces to rally under the new flag of General Orr. From then on they would be known as the Free Gryphon's, named after the Orr family crest.
Newly rejuvenated, the Imperial forces found the Gryphon's to be a force to be reckoned with. Xavier himself had his forces repelled over and over again. The battles eventually lead to the capital front, where King Greigore had little faith in his own forces. Many had defected to the Gryphon forces, now seeing that there was finally a cause of justice in this god forsaken war. Xavier, after being defeated at the Marseille Plateau battle, joined General Orr who received him with the highest of praise. Xavier was placed as one of his top ranking commanders.
King Greigore summoned his secret entourage of Blood Order mages and demanded they made the sacrifices necessary to summon an ancient dragon dating back to the beginning of the creation of the Empire. With blood constantly being spilled on the battlefields outside the mages were able to draw in enough energy to hasten the ritual. Blood pooled into a cavity in the chamber grounds, being drawn from sacrificed citizens and fallen soldiers. The entire kingdom rumbled as if an earthquake was beginning to start, and then from the castle within the kingdom Capital walls roared a dragon. King Greigore who had stepped down into the chamber to check on progress was killed when the dragon materialized through blood and magic. One of the dragons wings extended out, so massive was it that it smashed King Greigore against the wall and flattened him out into a fleshy pancake.
The dragon's immediate attention went to the warriors on the battlefield. A shadow descended upon the soldiers, and what followed next was a rain of bright blue spears of fireballs. Casualties were inflicted on both sides. Only a few knew of what the dragon was, such as General Orr. He ordered a immediate retreat, and gave a warning to the Imperial forces to fall back as well. It did not take long for them to listen. Xavier unfortunately had the disadvantage of having had an advantage. Earlier on he had stormed through an enemy keep, but now with the dragon burning the entire capital he was trapped. All exits had been cut off. He looked for a battalion support mage to create an exit but they had been caught in the flames along with the rest of the reserves. He and a couple of squads of men, along with some Imperial soldiers frantically looked but to no avail. The dragon quickly found them, and doused them in a beautiful blue fire.
Xavier felt no pain. The force of the fire caused him to keel over, but there was no pain. He could hear his men screaming though, and they screamed his name. He felt something inside him, which Xavier would later explain as a "great wickedness that I can't really describe. It consumed me and I felt nothing but sorrow and hatred". The image of the Veil creature flashed before his eyes constantly, and he clutched his chest, feeling the blood flow out of him. It was even hotter than the fire. His flesh started to fall off him. Blood and muscles in all. But he was alive.
It was reported that a "black cloud covered the entire garrison that Xavier entered. The flames there have been extinguished". Materializing from the shadows was a tremendous figure. It stood as large as a tower, and wielded a weapon as massive as it was. It covered itself in a black like cloak, but it seemed more of a fog. Where the head is supposed to be was a skull, with glowing purple orbs for eyes. In its hands was a wretched gigantic scythe. It was a spitting image of the grim reaper himself, a creature that struck even more terror into the soldiers. The dragon with a roar flew right at the reaper, who without hesitation struck at him. Flame and dark magic whirled and exploded, and it was enough of a sign to tell Orr to get the hell out of there.
The dragon was sealed into a human baby three days later. As for the grim reaper, it didn't take an Arcani Magistrate to figure that it was Xavier. An Asevurian mage, specializing in the research of demon and spirit entrapment, unlocked a binding bracelet that enabled the subjugation of Xavier. The bracelet had been built by the Elders in order to absorb dark energy entirely. It was assumed that Xavier would've been completely trapped in the bracelet, but instead after the bracelet was used they noticed that something had dropped out of the black shroud that was once the reaper. It was a skeleton, assumed to be Xavier's of course. The bones were bleach white and it perfect condition. Orr himself was present at this ritual and was deeply saddened at the loss of such a fine warrior and intellectual. Then the unexpected happen. The bones came to life and they even stood, and the skull scanned the area of where it was. The first words to come out of the mouth was:
"Well. I'm still here. We've got work to do."

This is the point from which I could never return
And if I back down now then forever I burn
This is the point from which I could never retreat
Cause If I turn back now there can never be peace
This is the point from which I will die and succeed

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
